Do you love watching events you’ve helped create come to life? Are you passionate about people getting people into wild places? Do you love collaborating with like-minded, talented legends? Do you want to see more sustainable, diverse & inclusive outdoors events?

If it’s a resounding yes, then we’d love your help bringing the Pilliga Ultra to life in 2026!

Volunteer Roles include

  • Volunteer Coordinator – recruit, train and coordinate our on-the-ground volunteers in the lead up to, and on the event weekend
  • Marketing & Comms Coordinator – help spread the word about the event, via digital and legacy media.  Raise awareness about the campaign, and get For Wild Places and the Pilliga on the map.
  • Race Director Support – Are you an aspiring race director? Support our RD in race planning, and learn by wrangling spreadsheets, communicating with runners, course marking & on-course race management.
  • Event Manager Support – Help the Event Manager coordinate with suppliers, stakeholders, sponsors and the local community to create a vibing, welcoming and creative event experience.

Job Type: 6-month volunteer role, with 3-5 hours expected per week, including weekly or fortnighly team meetings (online, after hours).  Attendance at the Pilliga Ultra in Coonabarabran, NSW (18th – 20th September 2026) is preferred.

What you’ll get: In return for your time and energy, you’ll become a critical part of the PU organising crew.  This will include x2 trips to the Pilliga, with transport and accommodation costs covered by FWP (within reason).  We can also provide written or verbal references and personal testimonails upon request.

To Apply: Please complete this Google Form, and one of our team will be in touch.
